"Can you all be quiet, please?" Siwon asked as he stood in front of his four sons, his eyes narrowed slightly.
Most of the time they were a (somewhat) well behaved group of boys, but for some reason today they were all acting up. He sighed and separated the youngest of them, making sure they sat on opposite sides of the couch. He sat the oldest two boys between them, hoping they'd be able to keep the peace at least somewhat.
"Why do we have to be quiet?" Henry (the youngest of the boys) asked in a voice that was more suited for outdoors, his head tilted to the side.
"Because I have something very important to tell you." Siwon replied, straightening himself up to his full height.
"Go on," Ryeowook (the second oldest) said with a soft smile, "We're listening."
Siwon smiled and ruffled Ryeowook's hair, letting out a loud laugh. "Good." He laughed once again before he continued, "You all know it's been a very long time since I've been out on a date, don't you?"
"You probably haven't dated since Mom left us," Kyuhyun (the second youngest) replied, "And that was twelve years ago."
"...Thank you, Kyuhyun." Siwon said with a sigh, massaging his temples to try and keep himself calm.
"Have you met someone else?" Donghae (the oldest of the boys) asked with a grin, bouncing slightly in his seat.
"He has," Kyuhyun stated, a smirk on his face. "He's been getting texts from someone named 'Mi' for months now."
"...How do you already know?!" Siwon questioned, turning to Kyuhyun.
"Don't leave your phone just lying around when you think we're not home, Dad." Kyuhyun said with a laugh.
"...I'll take that into consideration," Siwon said with a nod, "Thank you once again, Kyuhyun."
"You're welcome." Kyuhyun replied, settling in comfortably against the couch cushions.
Siwon rolled his eyes and then turned to the youngest boy, a soft smile on his face. "Do you understand what's going on, Henry?"
"Yeah!" Henry responded, grinning from ear to ear. "You found us a new Mom!"
"...Not exactly." Siwon replied, wondering how easy it would be to break the news to the smallest of his sons.
"You found us a new Dad...?" Ryeowook asked in a small voice, afraid to speak too loudly in case he was wrong.
"You're leaving us like Mom did!?" Donghae shouted, jumping to his feet and standing at his full height to stare his father down.
"No Donghae," Siwon replied with a laugh, patting the eldest boy on his head, "I've just... found someone else to help out around here."
"...Oh." Donghae let out a sigh, sitting back down on the couch next to his brothers.
"They are a man though, right?" Kyuhyun questioned, pursing his lips together slightly after he'd spoken.
"Yes," Siwon answered, nodding his head. "And he means a lot to me, so you'd better not be rude to him."
"You'd probably be better off locking Kyuhyun up and pretending you only have three sons then." Henry said with a laugh, earning a glare from his twin brother.
Siwon shook his head, sighing loudly. "...Oh boy." Was introducing Zhou Mi to this lot really a good idea?
"Now I want you to be nice when we meet Siwon and his boys today, okay?" Zhou Mi asked as he stared down at his twin sons, a slightly disapproving look on his face.
"When have we ever been anything but nice?" Eunhyuk asked with a grin, elbowing his twin in the side.
"We're angels, Dad." Sungmin said with a soft smile, elbowing Eunhyuk back.
Zhou Mi sighed and picked a non-existent piece of lint off Eunhyuk's shirt, "I swear if you're not well behaved, I'm taking both of your laptops away and selling them."
"You can't do that!" Eunhyuk shouted, staring at Zhou Mi with wide eyes.
"I'm your father, of course I can." Zhou Mi replied, smoothing out a wrinkle on Sungmin's tie.
"...Looks like we have to behave today, Hyuk." Sungmin replied, pushing Zhou Mi's hands away from his tie.
"Fine..." Eunhyuk said with a sigh. He really didn't want his father to sell his laptop, he had a lot of personal things saved on there.
"Good," Zhou Mi said with a smile, patting both of his sons on the shoulder before pushing them up the path towards Siwon's house. "I swear if you even crack one joke, your laptops are toast."
"We promise we'll behave, Dad." Sungmin said with a sigh as he walked up the path, kicking at a small pebble.
"Really," Eunhyuk stated, "We'll be good."
Zhou Mi smiled and pushed them forward again, taking in a deep breath when they reached the door. He brought his hand to the door and knocked twice, his hand falling back to his side soon after.
Siwon grinned when he pulled the door open to see Zhou Mi on the other side, "Come in, come in." He ushered Zhou Mi and the boys inside, closing the door behind them. "My sons are waiting in the living room down the hall, you can go join them if you like." He said as he looked at Eunhyuk and Sungmin, smiling politely.
"Okay," Eunhyuk and Sungmin said in unison before kicking their shoes off, running off down the hall only seconds later.
Zhou Mi scoffed at the way his sons had already made a mess of Siwon's front hall, leaning down to straighten up their shoes. "...I swear they have no manners." He stood back to his full height once he'd put their shoes in a neat line with his own pair, smiling softly as he looked at Siwon.
"My boys aren't any better," Siwon replied with a laugh before pulling Zhou Mi into a hug.
Zhou Mi smiled and relaxed in Siwon's arms, letting out a sigh. "You honestly don't know how hard it was to get them dressed to come here."
"Yes I do," Siwon replied as he looked at Zhou Mi, "You only have two sons, Mi. I've got four."
Zhou Mi laughed, grinning wide as he looked at Siwon, "That's true."
Siwon grinned back at him, "I really hope they get along..."
"Me too," Zhou Mi agreed with a sigh, leaning forward to breathe in Siwon's scent. He still smelled as good as he had the day they met, it was amazing how the older male hadn't changed one bit.
Siwon smiled and then leaned up slightly to press a kiss to Zhou Mi's lips, "Do you think we should break the news about the engagement to them today?" He asked after he pulled back from the kiss, an eyebrow raised.
"...We should see if they can carry on civil conversations with each other first, okay?" Zhou Mi replied, kissing Siwon's cheek softly before standing up straight.
"Good idea." Siwon agreed, taking Zhou Mi's hand in his before heading off down the hall with him.
"Your Dad is so gay for my Dad." Donghae teased, sticking out his tongue at Eunhyuk and Sungmin.
"...Your Dad is gay for our Dad too." Sungmin and Eunhyuk replied in unison.
"Do you two always speak at the same time?" Ryeowook asked, blinking a few times.
"No." They both answered before breaking into loud laughter.
Ryeowook laughed along with them before pointing to Kyuhyun and Henry, "These two are twins too. But they never speak at the same time."
"Unless it's because we have differing opinions," Kyuhyun started but was soon cut off by his younger twin.
"Which is almost all the time." Henry finished for Kyuhyun, smirking at the other boy.
"They do finish each other's sentences though." Donghae said before laughing loudly.
"Now that's one thing we've never done." Sungmin stated, his lips pursed as he looked over at Eunhyuk, "Have we, Hyukjae?"
"Nope." Eunhyuk shook his head, smiling at his twin. "We usually have the same opinion, don't we Sungmin?"
"Mmhm." Sungmin nodded, smiling back at Eunhyuk.
"...So how come you guys have Korean names if your Dad is Chinese?" Donghae questioned, staring at them across the room.
"Donghae!" Ryeowook gasped, smacking his older brother lightly on the thigh. "You just don't ask things like that."
"But I'm curious." Donghae said in a small voice, staring down at his lap.
"Our Mom is Korean." Sungmin said with a smile as he looked over at Donghae.
"And we live in Korea, so using our Korean names made more sense." Eunhyuk said, smiling as well.
"...That does makes sense." Donghae replied, his voice still barely above a whisper.
"So you have Chinese names too?" Henry asked, a genuinely curious tone to his voice.
"Yep." Sungmin replied, "I'm Shengmin and he's Hezai."
"We have Chinese names too." Kyuhyun said in a loud voice as if to show off. "Lixu, Donghai, Xianhua and I'm Guixian." He pointed to his brothers as he said their names and then to himself.
"Why do you have Chinese names too?" Eunhyuk asked, blinking as he looked across the room at the other boys.
"Because their mother is Chinese." Siwon said with a laugh as he walked into the room with Zhou Mi, his hand entwined with the taller male's.
"...Oh." Eunhyuk replied, shrinking back slightly when he heard Siwon's voice.
Sungmin smiled and bowed his head as he looked up at Siwon, "You have a very lovely home, Mr. Choi."
"Call me Siwon." Siwon said with a grin, his eyes shining.
Sungmin swallowed dryly when he saw Siwon's grin, nodding his head. "Yes Mr. Siwon."
Siwon laughed and bumped his hip against Zhou Mi's, still grinning. "You've got a cute one there, Mi."
"Don't be fooled, Siwon." Zhou Mi warned, "That's just how he draws you in."
"Dad!" Sungmin suddenly shouted, frowning at his father. "Don't give away my secrets already!"
Zhou Mi laughed, leaning against Siwon. "Are any of your boys like that?"
"Donghae is." Siwon replied and pointed to Donghae, smiling softly.
"Huh? I'm what?" Donghae asked, looking up at his father with a confused face.
"You act cute to gain the trust of others." Kyuhyun replied, rolling his eyes.
"I don't just act cute, Kyuhyun." Donghae said, "I am cute."
"I'm the cutest though." Henry said with a grin, his eyes crinkling up at the corners.
"Only because you're the youngest." Donghae replied, frowning. "It's unfair."
Siwon just laughed and walked over to ruffle his youngest son's hair with his free hand. "He does have a point though, Donghae. He is the cutest."
Henry grinned and then stuck his tongue out at Donghae.
Donghae gasped, "Dad, he stuck his tongue out at me!"
Siwon laughed again, "I saw him, Donghae." He shook his head, sighing loudly.
"Well then punish him!"
"For being right?" Kyuhyun asked with a scoff.
"Daaaaaaaaaaaaad!" Donghae shouted, "The dumb twins are teaming up on me again!"
"...Is it always like this in your house?" Zhou Mi asked, chuckling under his breath.
"Sadly yes." Ryeowook replied, sighing unhappily.
Zhou Mi smiled softly as he looked at Ryeowook, "If it means anything, I know how you feel."
"You do?" Ryeowook asked, looking up at Zhou Mi with shining eyes.
"I had a lot of cousins growing up, a lot of really loud cousins." Zhou Mi replied, "I'm used to crowds like this."
Ryeowook smiled as he looked up at Zhou Mi before glancing over at Siwon, "I really like this guy, Dad."
Siwon laughed loudly before leaning down to press a kiss to the top of his second oldest son's head, "I'm glad you do."
Ryeowook laughed at swatted at Siwon, "Dad, I'm not a kid anymore! You can't just kiss my head like that."
"How old are you?" Zhou Mi asked, the soft smile still on his face.
"I'm almost sixteen." Ryeowook answered proudly, smiling back at Zhou Mi.
"Are you?" Zhou Mi asked and watched as Ryeowook nodded, "Well I can safely say that you're quite the charmer for someone your age."
"He really is!" Donghae declared, grinning from ear to ear, seemingly forgetting that he'd just been mad at his two youngest brothers, "He's got a girlfriend and everything~!"
"No I don't!" Ryeowook gasped, reaching over to smack Donghae lightly. "Shhhhhh."
"You have a girlfriend?" Siwon asked, "And why haven't I heard about this before?"
"Because she's not my girlfriend, Dad." Ryeowook replied, sighing loudly. "She's just a girl who happens to be my friend."
"A girl who happens to be your friend that you happen to enjoy kissing." Henry said with a laugh before jumping up off the couch.
"Hey!" Ryeowook frowned and got up from the couch too, before chasing Henry out of the living room and up the stairs.
"Ryeowook, don't you hurt him!" Siwon called after them, letting out a sigh only seconds later.
"...Welcome to our house, Mr. Mi." Kyuhyun said with a laugh before chasing his brothers up the stairs.
"Thanks~" Zhou Mi responded, laughing a little as he watched the boys run off.
"Hey do you guys like video games?" Donghae asked as he looked over at Sungmin and Eunhyuk.
"Sure." The twins replied in unison, nodding their heads.
"Let's go play then!" Donghae said and jumped up from his seat, running over to them and holding out his hands.
"...Okay." Sungmin said with a smile before taking Donghae's hand, letting the boy pull him to his feet. He placed Eunhyuk's hand in Donghae's other hand. "Come on Hyukjae, let's go play some video games."
Eunhyuk nodded and then ran off with Donghae and Sungmin, laughing loudly as they ascended the stairs.
Zhou Mi watched as his sons disappeared up the stairs before slinging both of his arms around Siwon. He smiled against the older male's neck, sighing happily. "Looks like they get along pretty well, hm?"
"Very well." Siwon agreed as he hugged Zhou Mi back, giving the taller man a few moments grace before he picked him up and deposited him on the couch.
"Just because I'm lighter than you are doesn't mean you just do that, Siwon!" Zhou Mi shouted at him from the couch, pushing his bangs off his forehead.
"Sure it does." Siwon replied with a laugh before sitting next to Zhou Mi on the couch, slinging his arms around the other's waist.
"No it doesn't." Zhou Mi argued, but settled into Siwon's embrace nonetheless.
"If you say so." Siwon smiled, holding Zhou Mi just a bit closer.
"I do say so," Zhou Mi started, sticking his tongue out at Siwon, "Hey... you never told me what happened with the boys' mother."
"You never told me about your wife either." Siwon countered, staring at Zhou Mi with sad eyes.
"I'll tell you if you tell me." Zhou Mi replied with a soft smile, leaning forward to place a kiss on the tip of Siwon's nose.
"Deal." Siwon said, smiling back at the taller man. "Well... it's a bit of a long story."
"Try and make it short?"
"...If I can." Siwon said with an awkward laugh, leaning comfortably against the back of the couch. "Well, we were that high school couple that everyone was jealous of, you know?" He asked and watched as Zhou Mi nodded before he continued. "Her name was Geng and she was... perfect and so very out of my league. I still don't know how I got her in the first place or how I hung onto her for so long, really. I guess a whole bunch of things led to the end of our relationship." He sighed and leaned against Zhou Mi, staring down at his lap.
"...Like?" Zhou Mi enquired, smiling as he looked at the other man.
"For starters, I don't think motherhood was really for her." Siwon laughed that awkward laugh again, still not looking up at Zhou Mi.
"B-but you have four kids." Zhou Mi replied in a shocked tone.
"Yeah, I do." Siwon replied, nodding his head. "Mostly because we got married even before either of us were ready and my parents wanted grand-children. Within two years we had two boys under the age of three and two more on the way. We sort of rushed into it, you know?"
Zhou Mi nodded, reaching up to run his hands through Siwon's hair. "Heechul and I rushed into things too. The twins are only seventeen years younger than I am."
Siwon glanced up at Zhou Mi then, an incredulous look on his face. "Seriously?"
Zhou Mi nodded again, "Yeah," He smiled sadly and then nudged Siwon with his hip, "Keep telling me what happened."
"...Oh, right." Siwon shook his head and sighed, "Our marriage lasted only three more years after Kyuhyun and Henry were born. I woke up one morning and she was gone, a note the only thing left of the woman I'd spent seven years of my life with."
"...What did the note say?" Zhou Mi questioned, genuinely curious about Siwon's ex-wife.
"That she was leaving us to become a famous singer, that it was something she always wanted to do." Siwon responded, sighing again, "And that she couldn't do that with four kids and a husband that never loved her tying her down."
"Oh Siwon, I'm sorry." Zhou Mi said in a low voice, pressing kisses to both of the other man's cheeks.
Siwon shook his head, "I-it's okay. It was twelve years ago, I'm getting better at not letting it affect me so much."
"Did you ever get a divorce?" Zhou Mi asked, unsure if he wanted the answer or not.
"She sent me the papers two months after she left," Siwon replied, "Her signature was already on it and all I had to do was sign mine and mail them back to her."
Siwon nodded, sighing again. "Yeah. If she wanted out of it, I couldn't make her stay in a marriage she didn't want to be in anymore."
Zhou Mi kissed Siwon full on the mouth this time, nipping at his bottom lip before he pulled back. "I'm sorry."
"Don't be," Siwon responded, pressing a kiss against the corner of Zhou Mi's mouth, "It's not your fault."
"Shh," Siwon said in a small voice, giving Zhou Mi another soft kiss, "It's okay."
Zhou Mi sighed and curled into Siwon's embrace, "...My wife left me too."
"She did?" Siwon asked, tightening his grip around Zhou Mi's waist.
"Mmhm," Zhou Mi confirmed, sighing a little before he continued, "But not like how yours did. I'm not sure if it's worse or not, really."
"She claimed she was a lesbian," Zhou Mi said with an awkward chuckle, shaking his head. "That she couldn't live a lie by being with me any longer and that she had to follow her true path."
"..." Siwon wasn't sure how to reply to that, so he just stared at Zhou Mi and waited for him to continue.
"Well, I think she missed the meaning of the word 'lesbian', to be honest." Zhou Mi chuckled again although this time there was a bit of a sob hidden in it, "I found out she'd been cheating on me with a man she worked with. And that she had been for at least a year. Left when the boys were five and... I heard she married the other man."
Siwon's voice got stuck in his throat when he heard the sob escape Zhou Mi, only hugging him tighter. He couldn't imagine having been lied to that like that, at least Geng had been honest about why she had decided to leave.
"I don't know why she cheated on me, but..." Zhou Mi's voice cracked and he sobbed again, leaning forward to bury his face in Siwon's neck.
Siwon rubbed Zhou Mi's back, muttering soothing words into his ear.
"Having sh-shit marriages led us to each other, r-right?" Zhou Mi stuttered out against Siwon's neck, sniffling loudly.
"Exactly," Siwon replied and then kissed the side of Zhou Mi's head, "And I'm glad I found you."
Zhou Mi pulled his face out of the crook of Siwon's neck and stared at him with teary eyes, "R-really?"
"Yes." Siwon replied without hesitation before kissing Zhou Mi hard on the mouth.
Zhou Mi smiled against Siwon's lips and then kissed him back, letting out a content sigh.
Kyuhyun stood at the top of the stairs with Eunhyuk, listening in on the conversation between their fathers. "Your mother was a bitch."
"Sounds like yours was too." Eunhyuk countered, shoving the younger boy lightly.
"At least my Mom didn't cheat on my Dad." Kyuhyun replied and shoved Eunhyuk back, scowling at him.
"You take that back!" Eunhyuk shouted, shoving Kyuhyun harder.
"I won't." Kyuhyun replied and then turned on his heal to head back to the room he shared with Henry.
"I wasn't finished talking to you!" Eunhyuk yelled at Kyuhyun and grabbed the back of his shirt, pulling him backwards.
"Hey!" Kyuhyun shouted and shoved Eunhyuk away, his brows furrowed. "You can't just do that to someone!"
"When they insult my mother I can." Eunhyuk replied, pushing Kyuhyun hard on the chest.
"Just like my mother she was a deadbeat who left before you had even gotten to know her, why does it matter?"
"Because she's still my mother, okay?!" Eunhyuk screamed at Kyuhyun before pushing him once more without noticing how close the other boy was to the edge of the stairs.
Kyuhyun was about to offer another witty reply but soon found himself falling backwards down the steps.
Eunhyuk gasped the moment that he saw Kyuhyun slip, reaching out a few seconds too late to catch the boy before he fell.
Kyuhyun hit every third step on the way down, landing ungracefully at the bottom of the stairs.
Eunhyuk ran down after him, sitting on the step closest to the bottom. He didn't think Kyuhyun was conscious, it certainly didn't look like it. "...Are you..." He started to say but was soon cut off by Zhou Mi and Siwon running around the corner, their in unison gasps leaving him speechless.
"Hyukjae, what happened?" Zhou Mi asked as he looked at his son, his eyes wide with shock.
"I didn't mean to." Eunhyuk said in a small voice, staring down at his feet.
"Didn't mean to what?" Siwon questioned as he looked up at Eunhyuk from his spot next to Kyuhyun.
"You pushed him?!" Zhou Mi shouted at Eunhyuk, "Why would you push him?"
"They were fighting." Henry replied from the top of the stairs, unsure if it was okay to go down or not.
"About what?" Siwon asked, pulling Kyuhyun's head into his lap as he tried to bring the boy back to consciousness.
"He called our mother a bitch," Sungmin said, sighing loudly. "I mean... she is, but he didn't need to say it."
"Sungmin, go get the other boys." Zhou Mi said with a sigh, "We have to take Kyuhyun to the hospital."
Sungmin nodded and then took Henry's hand, tugging him back towards the bedrooms.
Henry followed diligently after Sungmin, staring down at his feet as he walked.
"I'm sorry, Dad. Mr. Siwon, I'm so sorry." Eunhyuk pleaded, "I didn't think he'd fall."
"...Don't." Siwon said and pulled Kyuhyun up to his feet, the boy's head lolling against his shoulder. "Just help your brother get my sons ready, and then meet us outside."
Eunhyuk nodded and then waited for Sungmin to come down the stairs with the other boys, watching as his father helped Siwon with carrying Kyuhyun.
Kyuhyun slowly opened his eyes, blinking as he tried to adjust to the bright hospital lights. "...Why am I in the hospital?"
Zhou Mi inhaled sharply when he heard Kyuhyun's voice, nudging Siwon (who had been dozing off against his shoulder) with his knee. "Siwon, he's awake."
Siwon jerked out of his half-asleep state, wiping off a line of drool from his mouth before rushing across the room to where his son was lying in the bed. "Oh thank God."
"...No one's answered me yet, why am I in the hospital?" Kyuhyun asked again, staring up at his father.
"You fell." Zhou Mi replied as he stood next to Siwon, smiling sadly at the boy in the bed.
"I...fell?" Kyuhyun blinked again, "Why did I fall?"
"You were fighting with Hyukjae and..." Siwon started but was cut off when Eunhyuk walked into the room, the boy speaking over him.
"I pushed you too hard and you fell." Eunhyuk said in a voice barely above a whisper, swallowing dryly after he spoke. "I'm sorry."
"...Some start to blending our families." Kyuhyun said with a laugh, coughing only seconds later.
"How... how did you know we wanted to blend our families?" Siwon asked as he pulled a chair up to the side of the bed, staring down at Kyuhyun.
"You have matching rings," Kyuhyun stated, smiling weakly as he looked up at his father, "And you introduced his sons to us. I may be only fourteen but I'm not stupid, Dad."
Siwon laughed and then leaned down to pat Kyuhyun's shoulder, "You always were a little smarter than everyone else your age."
"...Does this mean you're not mad at me for pushing you down the stairs?" Eunhyuk asked as he slowly walked over to the bed.
"I guess not." Kyuhyun replied, laughing loudly. "Just don't do it again."
"Promise!" Eunhyuk said and then bowed to both Siwon and Kyuhyun.
Zhou Mi grinned and beckoned Eunhyuk over to the bed, ruffling his hair once he reached them. "...Maybe things will work out anyway."
"Maybe." Siwon agreed, smiling softly as he noticed the other four boys sneaking into the room. "But we should probably think about moving into a single floor house to prevent an accident like this happening again."
Henry ran over to the bed and climbed in, curling up next to his twin. "He's the smart one, we can't have him breaking his head open, right Dad?"
Siwon laughed and smiled down Henry, "That's right."
Donghae, Ryeowook and Sungmin slowly approached the bed as well, all three of their steps rather tentative.
Sungmin grinned as he looked between his father and Siwon, nodding his head. "I approve of this."
"Me too!" Donghae said with a laugh, nodding incessantly.
"What about you, Ryeowook?" Zhou Mi asked as he looked over at the boy.
Ryeowook nodded his head once, smiling shyly. "It's fine with me."
Siwon slung an arm around Zhou Mi's shoulders, leaning his head in the crook of the taller man's neck.
Zhou Mi grinned and leaned his head against Siwon's, letting out a content sigh.
"So other than me almost dying, everything worked out for the best?" Kyuhyun questioned, breaking the silence that had fallen over the room.
"...Yeah, I suppose so." Siwon answered, laughing loudly.
"Yay new brothers!" Donghae suddenly yelled, hugging Sungmin and Eunhyuk as closely as he could.
Sungmin laughed and hugged Donghae too, shaking his head. "We're in a hospital silly, you have to be quiet."
"Yay new brothers!" Donghae repeated in a quieter voice, grinning.
Eunhyuk grinned back at him, nudging Donghae with his elbow.
"So...can I leave now?" Kyuhyun asked without hesitation, frowning when he only received a chorus of laughter as a reply.
Siwon smiled and hugged Zhou Mi tighter to his side, "We've got quite a journey ahead of us, Mi. Are you sure you don't want to back out now?"
"I've come this far." Zhou Mi replied with a grin, "How much worse can it get?"
